Founded in 2000
Balthasar was founded to serve industrial clients, and is unique in its specialism for the HVAC and renewables sectors.
Today, five of the largest German manufacturers in these industries rely on the company’s services, as well as a growing number of small to medium sized businesses.
In March 2016, Heike Held took over management of the company and its dedicated in-house team. Balthasar also works in close partnership with experienced and qualified freelance linguists around the world, who work only into their native language.
Continued investment in state of the art software and staff training ensures we can meet our customers’ expectations for quality and timeliness.

Managing Director and Sales Europe
With over 16 years of experience in sales and an interest in people and communications, my ambition as a managing director is to take Balthasar to the next level. Since moving to the UK I had to exchange Austrian ski slopes for English golf courses, and I must say my enthusiasm for golf is growing by the day.
My current focus is on keeping the quality of our translations high. Consequently, I am devoting a lot of time to our company glossaries and to guiding new DE-EN translators. What sets Balthasar apart from any other agency is our specialisation in the technical field, specifically HVAC, renewables and associated industries – we have no peers. As I step back from the day to day running of the business the lasting legacy I want to leave behind through our industry- and company-specific glossaries is excellence.
Director, Editor/Copywriter, Sales UK
I am a lifelong avid reader, writer and researcher, always with a new interest in my sights; from psychology, meditation and nutrition to my current craze – High Intensity Intermittent Training. In my role as copywriter, proofreader and editor I continue to research and update my skills. Not only do I want to get things right – I want to do things in the best possible way.
I am the web developer and IT expert at Balthasar. As such I am continually looking at ways to improve our internal project management system, called QuickTrace, and our online customer services. The aim is always to enable us to work smarter, not harder.

After studying European Languages at university, I was keen to find employment in the translation industry. Working at Balthasar has allowed me to do this and more, enabling me to develop my organisational, problem-solving and project management skills as well. I love working together with my colleagues, our customers and translators to ensure that we are continuously improving our translation services and consistently achieving our goals. Having recently completed my post graduate Diploma in Translation, I am keen to take on new challenges as the company continues to grow.

A lifelong linguist with a particular interest in German language and culture, I’ve now been translating for Balthasar for over 8 years and know more than I ever thought possible about HVAC and renewables terminology! In the future I and my family hope to move back to Germany, so the country I call my second home will soon become my first.
Born and raised in Hamburg, Germany, I exchanged the big city for the big landscape of the countryside in 1997. Now, almost 20 years later, I still enjoy country living and am doing one of my favourite things – working with languages. As a Project Manager I get to work with a team of very talented colleagues and expert linguists based all over the world and the countryside feels not so much ‘country’ after all.
I have always wanted to put my degree in German to good use and with Balthasar I have finally found the role that allows me to do that – project manager. I enjoy organising things and have an eye for detail that my daughters don’t always appreciate when it comes to checking their homework. I am a team player at work and in my leisure time too, as a member of the local ladies rugby team.
I really enjoy problem solving and learning new IT skills, so working at Balthasar is ideal for me. My colleagues keep coming up with “challenges” for me to resolve alongside my normal office tasks, so my workload is kept varied and interesting. I love the outdoors and have a keen interest in history.
