My name is Melanie Germaney, I am the new Project administrator here at Balthasar. I studied German Literature and Language at University and taught English as a foreign language for a year in a little village in Sachsen-Anhalt. Since leaving University, I have had different jobs that have ranged from sales assistants to an administrator in a prison. I started here on Monday 9th December and here is a little insight into my first week at Balthasar:

Monday morning came and I ascended the stairs into the Balthasar office. My hands were shaking and my mouth was dry. I had successfully battled the Gloucester traffic and now I was here. I entered the office to big smiles and a wonderful welcome, which immediately settled the fears that were quickly rising in my stomach. I was presented with an induction for my first week. It was structured according to my working hours, whilst making sure that I did not have too much information to take in all at once. I would be learning all the processes that come with setting up jobs, learning everything about the customers that use Balthasar, finding out how new customers are found and also how the documents are prepared throughout their journey from receiving the file to returning the completed document to the customer.

Wednesday was my favourite day of my first week, I got to relax and just talk German for the first time in ages. I love speaking the language and I am unbelievably happy that I can use my language skills that I learnt whilst teaching in Germany 12 years ago.

My overriding memory of this week has been how efficient, precise and meticulous every member of Balthasar is. My head is pounding and my eyes are hurting, but the smile on my face reaches from ear to ear. Balthasar is going to be an amazing company to work for with an exceptional team of people. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to be part of something incredible.
